Tumblr becomes a platform musical artists and fans flock to in a similar way to Facebook and Twitter. Unlike those other platforms, Tumblr is branded as a platform that allows users to create their own presence rather than mainly browse. This allows users to let artists and fans connect “quickly and easily.”
January-June, 2011: Tumblr expands from 7 million to 21 million blogs, surpassing WordPress
August 30, 2011.
By July 2011, Tumblr reached 13.4 million users, a 218% increase from the year before.
